The Public School Forum of NC’s Center for Resilience and Learning is seeking a new full-time Program Coordinator to be based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area, to provide coordination and operational support in areas such as communications, policy/research, event planning, and overall internal systems organizing. This position will report to the Senior Director of the Center and will work closely with our growing team across the state. The Forum fosters a welcoming, diverse and inclusive culture.
Center Background
After studying the impact of childhood trauma (known as adverse childhood experiences or ACEs) on learning and student behavior, the Public School Forum of NC launched the NC Center for Resilience & Learning (formerly the NC Resilience & Learning Project) in 2017 to implement whole-school and district-wide strategies to improve the academic performance and social-emotional well-being of students impacted by trauma. The core model of the Center’s work includes school-wide educator training and ongoing coaching and technical assistance.
This full-time position provides an incredible opportunity to become immersed in the interplay of trauma and learning and to actively contribute to the expansion of a growing and significant program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for and interest in education, supporting students and families, the field of trauma and resilience, and improving internal processes/practices for a growing statewide team. Candidates should have strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work with a team of 10+ members as well as the ability and motivation to work independently.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
This Program Coordinator will work closely with the Center’s Senior Director as well as with other part-time contractors and full-time program managers in different regions of the state. The coordinator should be someone who is detail oriented and well organized as well as someone who can bring new ideas to our Center as we continue to grow in areas with communications, social media, writing/sharing our stories, data collection and reporting, small event coordination, and better utilizing technology for improved organizational systems as a team.
● Assist with designing, coordinating, and disseminating new resources to support educators and school staff in trauma-informed practices as well as Center coaches with their training and coaching work in the field.
● Support coordination of Center’s communication efforts in building a social media presence, regularly updating website, creating monthly e-newsletter (the Resilience Reader), and seeking out other marketing and communication outlets.
● Assist with a variety of writing opportunities for the Center (such as supporting Senior Director with grant reporting, editing for new resources created, and story-telling from our schools).
● Support coordination of small Center events such as monthly webinars, regional convenings, internal team retreats, and other training events led by Center coaches.
● Support ongoing research and policy efforts of the Center focused on specific strategies and recommendations for trauma-informed education.
● Bolster efforts in improving the Center’s use of technology and organizational systems to streamline internal processes and better coordinate and document work being done by all coaches across the state.
● Assist Senior Director in managing and planning for regular team meetings and quarterly team retreats.
● Provide other administrative and logistical support as needed to Center coaches and Senior Director.
Qualifications

● Strong organization skills utilizing technology and other systems to improve programmatic practice and processes.
● Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work well with diverse groups including funders, school and district partners, and a diverse internal team of Center coaches.
● Effective writing skills; ability to write well and produce written products that are accessible and beneficial to a variety of audiences.
● Excellent organizational skills; self-starter; exceptional attention to detail.
● Customer service orientated – likes to help make others’ work easier.
● Thrives in a team-driven, collaborative work environment.
● Comfortable working remotely.
● Demonstrated ability to work on several simultaneous tasks and projects.
● Computer, web, and social media proficiency. Experience with WordPress is preferred and interest/experience in graphic design or data visualization is a plus.
● Bachelor’s degree required.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, 12-month position. The salary range for this position is $48,000-$52,000, dependent upon experience. We are hoping to have a start date for this position by April 1, 2024. The Public School Forum offers the following benefits: competitive compensation commensurate with experience, a generous 401K retirement plan; personal leave policy, 10 paid holidays in addition to the week between Christmas and New Year’s, and a shortened (32 hours/Fridays off) summer workweek from Memorial Day to Labor Day, term life insurance, and employer sponsored group health insurance with access to dental, vision, short and long term disability plans. Position is ideally located in the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) with the ability to work both remotely as well as to come into a physical office at least one day per week located in Raleigh. Occasional travel required within North Carolina. Background check required for employment.
